Undoubtedly one of the best purest sci fi series on or off TV.
Its likely the series is so good because it isn't constranded by the nonesense of Hollywood (just ask Riddley Scott and Sandy Collora).
The story line, while not entirely unique, is still intensely powerful and how its unfolded is extraordinarily (as well as unnervingly) realistic.
The characters are well developed, the acting is stone cold and spot on. James Rich's deadpan "I'd rather be somewhere else" delivery is excellent. The rest of the cast is just as perfect.
The production values are just as good, at times even better, than a big budget sci fi series. Editing, camera work, lighting and all, spot on.
This series should be on TV, preferable on PBS. Some station that would honour the open/public domain nature of the work (I think its public domain no? or Creative Commons?).
The show is addictive, and leaves you hanging at the end of each episode.
Well done lads.
I've heard worse, far worse.
Agreed.
This is by far one of the best sci fi films I have ever seen. And this is coming from someone that finds most of today's sci fi films very lacking in almost all respects.
The story line is intelligent, imaginative, inspired and hopeful. Its the anchor that makes this film what it is, great sci fi.
While this film has lots of action, suspense and tense moments, it is NOT for the "blow'em-up-Fi" movie fans. Much like the film Primer 2004 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/), the story line requires too much thought on the part of the viewer.
One day this will be remade into a major motion picture, hopefully as an open film and without losing any of the story line.
Easily in the top 10 of open films. Right along with Pioneer One for example.
