"They used to charge $5 a DVD and $75 for a seat at the convention (1100 attended at the last one) not to mention the legions of donations from around the world. "

1) Peter's STILL charges 5$ with is NOTHING and

2) they (TZM) NEVER charged 75$ for any Z event. The most I have seen was 12$ for the Zdays...

3) And The Zeitgeist Movement has nothing to do with the film series.

4) TZM doesnt take donations. You are thinking of TVP, which again has nothing to do with The Zeitgeist Film Series

"the previous Zeitgeist films were critically destroyed"

This is a seriously suspect and biased comment, loaded with a subtext of true disdain for The Zeitgeist Film Series. Not only have Zeitgeist: The Movie & Zeitgeist Addendum NEVER been debunked outside the whining subculture who simply have an Ax to grid or a religion to uphold, the sources provided are acute, clean and thorough. Here is the Z1 200+ page companion guide:

http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/Zeitgeist,%20The%20Movie-%20Companion%20Guide%20PDF.pdf

It covers EVERYTHING. This is the most important film series in history.

@ ZENPROCRASTINATION

"They used to charge $5 a DVD" - May I ask you why you say $5 per DVD is substantial amount of money when other distributor charges at least $25 per DVD? Where's the logic in that? Are you saying the creator of this movie deserve to receive ZERO amount of money for his work?

Everyone needs to keep an open mind and think for themselves as well when reading your comment, IMO.

It has some interesting ideas and certainly food for thought

.However, the previous Zeitgeist films were critically destroyed, mainly because the facts they presented were completely untrue, taken out of context or utterly unverifiable.

The only danger is that, to disagree with Zeitgeist you then become labelled as indoctrinated or part of the "establishment".

Luckily, this next edition focuses on some really interesting issues and presents actual solutions. It should be watched definetely but equally it should be regarded with a degree of academic skepticism.

For instance some of the Marx ideas are outdated and Karl Marx himself actually came up with a revised system which the film makers do not mention. Also the Venus Project has now split from the Zeitgeist movement.

It would not be fair to not mention that the makers of the film do in fact receive a substantial amount of money for these volumes. They used to charge $5 a DVD and $75 for a seat at the convention (1100 attended at the last one) not to mention the legions of donations from around the world.

But watch it and keep an open mind.

An update to my earlier comment. Since watching this film, I've been inspired to watch the earlier video productions and debates featuring Peter Joseph, and Jacque Fresco of The Venus Project. For me, the "Moving Forward" film remains the best way to get an overview of TZM. I don't believe everything that TZM presents as fact (there's a huge USA focus to much of it) and I have concerns around the viability of the cashless, resource-managed, technologically-driven future. However, the discussion of the causes of disease, and corrupt big business and governments rings pretty true. On this basis, the film is worth watching. You can draw your own conclusions regarding the socially engineered future that TZM proposes. If nothing else, it is thought-provoking and a good source of material for discussion.

I hadn't seen the film yet, and I was arguing with a team member of my startup about how the role of monetary gain was minimal to the company. The service that we provide to our consumers was all important. I saw the film, stopped arguing, and sent him the link. He does not completely agree, but he understands my angle finally.

Great film!!! Recommending to everyone I know!!

I was really inspired by the Zeitgeist Movement and Peter Joseph. He is why I decided to become a filmmaker. Now the man who is the leader of Fair Use claim is threatening to sue many other filmmakers who have claimed fair use on some of his material, which he originally borrowed to begin with. He has also removed the ability to share the video on YouTube. Really bizarre! I dont know what is happening with him, but it is very disappointing to all of the documentary filmmakers that looked up to him.

I wanted to comment about the film, having had a chance to finally watch it. Part I about behavior and the mind was interesting, but it seemed to drag on a bit - in the sense that, it was good information, but maybe could have been a separate film piece, or arranged to be at the end of the film. Like I said, nothing negative, just seemed slightly out of place, if only due to length and amount of time focused on the subject. There were some cut scenes that seemed to have a high-pitched "whine" throughout (maybe kind of like feedback almost). The film itself is excellent and thought-provoking (to say the least!). Not only are we presented with information, questions are raised, and possible solutions are divulged. Great effort, and thanks for releasing this. I've been looking forward to this for a while. :)

About the author

Peter Joseph

Peter Joseph

Peter Joseph was born in North Carolina to a middle class family. The son of a mailman and a social worker, he began his creative interests with music at a young age. Later, seeking a career in percussion, he moved to New York initially to attend a Conservatory, only to drop out after an inability to afford the tuition. Currently he lives and works in New York City and focuses on media related fields, including music composition, editing, post-production and other A/V related. He is also a former private equity trader, which he often comments upon as being his "introduction to the wasteful, destructive system known as Wall Street".

After the release of Zeitgeist: Addendum, he founded "The Zeitgeist Movement", [ www.thezeitgeistmovement.com ] which is a social sustainability organization with members now in nearly every country. His work with The Movement is now a large part of his daily activities - giving lectures and helping to produce relevant media/materials to spread the interest for a new social system- called a Resource-Based Economy.
